Overview of the ICS Personal Project Process

MYP Command Terms

Use the following MYP Command Terms to improve your Success Criteria statement:

Create

The action required to evolve one’s thoughts or imaginings into a work, product, outcome or invention

Demonstrate

Prove or make clear by reasoning or evidence, illustrating with examples or practical application

Document

Credit sources of information used by referencing (or citing) following one recognized referencing system. References should be included in the text and also at the end of the piece of work in a reference list or bibliography

Formulate

Express precisely and systematically the relevant concept(s) or argument(s).

Identify

Provide an answer from a number of possibilities. Recognize and state briefly a distinguishing fact or feature

Investigate Observe, study, or make a detailed and systematic examination, in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions
Measure

Find the value for a quantity

Present

Offer for display, observation, examination or consideration

Solve

Obtain the answer(s) using appropriate methods

Synthesize

Combine different ideas in order to create new understanding

Use

Apply knowledge or rules to put theory into practice

Developing Product Criteria

To develop the criteria for your product/outcome, start with your specifications. Look at the table below for ideas.and try to answer the following questions: 

  • How will I know when I have achieved my goal?

  • How can I judge the quality of my product/outcome?

  • How will I know it has been successful?

Form Function User/Audience Cost Other

What will it look like?

What materials will you use?

What tools will you need?

What size will it be?                   

How will it be assembled?                             

What is its' purpose?

What will it do?

How easily can it be used?

How easily can it be maintained?                      

Who is it for?

How old are the users?

What is their background knowledge/experience?

Is there a cost involved?

Is this a time or material cost?     

What other factors needto be considered?
