Success in the Diploma Programme (DP) comes with hard work, organisation and a willingness to engage in wider reading that goes beyond issued course materials. It also comes with making the right subject choices (especially in HL) based on your interest and skills.
As you have begun the IB DP subject choice preparation it is essential for you to gain an understanding of what you may be learning in a specific subject, if that is of interest to you, and if it inspires a desire to want to learn more. This will ensure that when you submit your final subject choices you are confident that they are the right ones for you.
To help you in this process of understanding more about different subjects your future DP teachers have selected relevant readings for you. Every G10 student is required to choose one book from one HL subject that they are considering to choose as part of their diploma. You are expected to read this book over the Winter break and then your individual subject choice meetings in January will use your reflections from this book as a guiding topic.
You are responsible for accessing and/or purchasing these readings as this is part of the independent approach to learning that you are expected to take in the DP. All titles are available in print format in the DSC Library and, where possible, as ebooks and audiobooks on *Sora or DiBiOst (German media) to skim and scan before you make a decision about which titles to read. The books can be bought/ordered from local bookstores such as Orell Füssli and Ex Libris or from online vendors such as Blackwells and Amazon.
