This guide is to offer support to teachers and students in the different areas of social & emotional learning. The home page has an overview of SEL and there are subsequent sub divisions according to the five competencies of SEL.

Overview

These pages have been created to support teachers and students and may be used in a number of ways - student goal setting, morning meetings, curriculum connections, assembly ideas, tackling issues or simply sharing good stories.

SEL Framework

What is SEL?

"Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions." 

What are the SEL competencies?

"The five broad, interrelated areas of competence are: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making."
