The energy in the universe never increases or decreases -- but it does move around a lot. Energy can be potential (like a stretched-out rubber band waiting to snap) or kinetic (like the molecules that vibrate within any substance). And though we can't exactly see it, every time we cook dinner or shiver on a cold night, we know it's there. George Zaidan and Charles Morton get excited about energy.

How to make a cotton ball launcher

Create a cotton ball launcher with stuff from around the house: Some cardboard tubes, a pencil or popsicle stick, and some rubber bands. You’ll need some strong tape, scissors, and a hole punch put it all together.

Kinetic Energy
Kinetic energy is one of the two main forms of energy. It’s the energy of motion, and it’s constantly at work all around us. Every time you take a bus to school or bowl a strike, that’s kinetic energy in action. For all that it does, kinetic energy depends on just two factors: mass and speed. The other form of energy is potential energy. Kinetic and potential energies are constantly transformed into one another and between the two of them, they make the world go round.
