The Golden Cowbell Book Award was created by the SGIS Librarians as a means of promoting great literature
and cross cultural ties within the international school community of Switzerland.
Here's how it works: In order to be eligible to vote, students must read a specific number of nominated titles within each category-
4 titles for the Braunveih (younger readers), 3 titles for the Evolene ( middle readers), 3 titles for Herens (intermediate readers) 2 titles for Simmental (advanced readers).
In May, Students then vote for their favourite book.

How exciting!!! Thanks so much!! BOB’s first award is international from your beautiful country, how awesome! Please thank your fellow librarians for selecting the book and the kids for reading and choosing it! Rebecca and I are thrilled that they enjoyed it! BOB was truly a labor of love— it took us 7 years to write! (good thing it doesn’t take that long to read it ;o). Thanks again! All my best, Wendy

I got the certificate and the chocolates! My dog Bailey got into the chocolates but only got a few. He left some chocolate paw marks on my certificate, but they look like cow hoofprints, so it's all good. I posted a notice and thank you as my FB cover photo. No bell yet, but standing by. Thanks! Bailey is fine. He has strategically built up his resistance over time, just like in "The Princess Bride." - Todd
From Victoria Jamieson (alas no photo yet): Hi there! I am sorry for not reporting back on the cowbell earlier. YES, I have received it in all its glory! I love it! We have had a busy summer moving across the country (hence my delinquent email), and I can't wait to uncover the cowbell from its moving box and restore it to its proper place in the home. And yes, please feel free to share my email. That would be wonderful! Thank you once again. I hope you had a wonderful summer & a great beginning to your school year. Best wishes, Vicki
I just sent you a photo of me with my marvelous cowbell! I'm typing this separately because I hate trying to type on my phone. I love the bell. It is by far the coolest award I've ever gotten; it normally sits in pride of place on my family room mantel. I went to Switzerland last summer, and we loved the belled cows in the mountains. I'm honored by the award and if I can do anything else for you please let me know. Best, Kim Bradley

I can't tell you how excited this note made me. Thank you so much for letting me know about the Golden Cowbell Book Award—amazing!!! Cows are one of my most favorite animals, so that makes it even better. I really appreciate this more than I can say. What an honor, that the kids in Switzerland have enjoyed the book this much. Wow. And Evolene cows are SO sweet. It IS cool! Love it. It's definitely one of the best awards I've ever gotten. And like I said, it'll keep the bears away, for sure. The gifts were received and ADORED by everyone in this household, especially the little chocolates! It was a real honor receiving this award, by the way. It's so nice to think about kids reading the book who are so far away... All my best to you. Best, Cece

This is FANTASTIC news!!! What a delightful award! And it’s made all the better by the fact that it was awarded by children and librarians, because it is for those two groups that I write all my books! I just woke up to this news, so I’ll be stepping lightly all day now! Thank you!! And please thank all of the children, parents and educators involved. I’m truly honored. - Drew Daywalt
Thank you so much! I am very honored to hear this news! How exciting. I am flying off to Italy on the 18th...so I'll be closer to Switzerland than I am now. Thank you again! May there always be balloons in your future! Wondermously yours, Chris!
RE: Golden Cowbell Award! How MARVELLOUS! I would expect a cowbell to be part of the prize - no?!! That's such nice news. Thank you for letting me know and thank all the people involved including the keen readers! - Liz Pichon

WOW! What lovely news! So exciting to hear that CREEPY CARROTS! is making a splash in Switzerland! Just a quick note of thanks for the lovely gift you sent! The chocolate was magnificent (I would expect no less from the amazing country of Switzerland!) and the cowbell was a lovely memento of the award. But most of all, I'm delighted to have CREEPY CARROTS chosen by the children of the international school community of Switzerland. It means more than I can say that kids love the book! With much appreciation, Aaron Reynolds
