Every school year, The Battle of the Books (BOB) brings the joy of reading to life from December to March. This exciting literary competition invites students in Grades 6 through 8 to dive into a world of stories, teamwork, and friendly competition.
Teams of 3 to 4 members will join forces to read 7 selected books together. The titles have been carefully chosen by the SGIS librarians’ group from the outstanding collection featured in the Golden Cowbell Award.
Each week, our BOB-ers meet during lunchtime in the welcoming atmosphere of our Secondary Library. Meetings include a variety of fun and creative activities — from book quizzes and team logo design to crafts and more — all while enjoying lunch with teammates.
This year, we’re excited to announce that The Battle of the Books 2026 will be an in-house competition, giving our students the chance to showcase their reading passion and team spirit right here within our school community. Staff members are also welcome to join and compete against the students!
